About Me

My name is Berkeley Joy Mashburn.

Joy is my middle name and I'm always seeking more of it.

Expert providing recommendations for Europe and N. America for solo and aspiring luxury travelers

Where I've Been

I grew up in both Austin, Texas, and Vail, Colorado. Traveling often between the two instilled an appreciation of adventure in me from an early age. But it wasn't until high school, when I went to Spain for the first time to study Spanish, that I realized how transformative travel can be. Since then, I've been to 14 countries (for a total of 17 and counting) and filled dozens of journals with personal insights and memories. I've bookmarked thousands of restaurants, historical sites, and beautiful locales that I can share with you. And these numbers will only continue to grow: In 2021, I set a goal of visiting a minimum of

five new countries a year.

Why Joy?

My mission is to help others find joy through travel.

Besides the fact that Joy is literally my middle name (in honor of my grandmother, Joyce), I've chosen this mission because I believe joy is what we seek when we travel. And it's not that we have to leave our homes to experience joy -- but instead, that when we explore new places, we experience the diversity of humanity and the beauty of this earth. When we revel in both of these things, joy stems from within. I hope that you'll find traveling under my guidance to be a life changing experience.
